Hublot Gets The Summertime Blues – In A Good Way

The Cruise Collection is a set of classic fusion chronographs in gorgeously aquatic hues.

Hublot takes its name from the French word for “porthole”, and there’s something elegantly nautical about the trio of pieces with which the brand has decided to celebrate the magic of the Mediterranean this summer.

Unveiled at the pop-up boutique (see main pic, above) on the Balearic party island last month, the Classic Fusion Chronograph Ibiza evokes the spirit of The White Island with its a blue ceramic bezel, white dial, blue markers and white alligator/rubber strap with blue stitching. Those of a hippy-ish persuasion will also appreciate the ‘Peace’ symbol on the seconds counter at 3 o’clock.

Meanwhile a new 2019 iteration of a piece which, for eight years, has celebrated the Aegean Sea and the Cyclades Archipelago – the Classic Fusion Mykonos – has been created in collaboration with GOFAS Jewellery. Featuring a sky blue ceramic bezel, the 45-mm piece pays homage to the island after which it is named and its most iconic structure (see the rotating windmill at 3 o’ clock).

Powered by a self-winding skeleton chronograph movement, it has a power reserve of 42 hours, and is water-resistant up to 50 metres. The two separate limited editions – there are 50 pieces in titanium, 50 in king gold – represent the juxtaposition between the sky and the sea in this glorious Aegean hotspot.

Completing the trio is the Classic Fusion Chronograph Capri – a toast to the island off of Naples and its spellbinding atmosphere and panoramic views. The 45mm chronograph, which has a blue satin-finished dial housed in a ceramic case and is circumfrenced by a tone-on-tone ceramic bezel, is limited to 30 pieces, and can only be purchased at Hublot’s boutique on Capri.
