Johannes Huebl’s transition from model to style icon, rather like David Gandy’s, is surely complete. So it was no surprise to find out that the Insta mega-hit has collaborated on an elegantly tailored, ultra-relaxed collection with Brazilian label Frescobol Carioca.
Deconstructed blazers, single and double breasted, in lightweight Italian-milled linen or tactile seersucker; shirts in tropical cotton, denim and fine linen; beautifully cut swimwear and chinos in a sophisticated colour palette of military green, dark navy and off-white – all of these are encompassed in a collection which takes its cues from Johannes’s personal wardrobe as well as the natural tones of Rio’s coastline.
“When they approached me to do a capsule collection, we discussed introducing their very first tailored styles into my capsule,” explains Huebl of the collection. “I was interested in using my tailoring expertise and showcasing my interpretation of chic resort wear. Our style had some great overlap already, and I have lots of Frescobol style in my wardrobe.”
Rather than simply put his name and face to the line, Huebl was keen from the start to be involved creatively. “I designed the pieces with my favourite summer spots in mind and envisioned myself wearing them at those resorts,” he says. “I wanted to be able to wear them from the Amalfi Coast to the Caribbean, and from Los Angeles to a summer in London. They’re pieces that you can combine or separate and wear around the world. The collection includes all the stapes of a modern travel wardrobe.”
The Frescobol Carioca & Johannes Huebl capsule collection will launch on the 15th of September on frescobolcarioca.com, and will also be available at: Mr Porter, My Theresa, Bloomingdales, Le Bon Marche, Boutique 1 and Zalando. See below for more looks from the collection.
