It occupies arguably the most prestigious address in global tailoring – No.1 Savile Row. Now, Gieves & Hawkes is set to offer its clients made-to-measure suiting, outerwear and formalwear, all underpinned by a new house look, an enhanced design and fitting process and a larger-than-ever range of tailoring fabrics for customers to choose from (95 per cent of which are made here in the UK).
The service will offer customers a similar range of choices to that they’d expect from a bespoke service – single or double-breasted, notched or peaked lapels, lined or half-lined jackets, flat-front or pleated trousers and so on – and will involve 35 different measurements.
“Our fitting blocks have been completely redeveloped,” explains Gieves & Hawkes’s Creative Director, John Harrison. “We’ve kept the blocks true to our house style, but they are now more contemporary and offer an enhanced fit – well suited to today’s stylish, international man.” Expect beautifully balanced lapels, sharply cut shoulders, an elegant waisted silhouette and a jacket length slightly longer than elsewhere on and around The Row.
Meanwhile, with the summer sporting season almost upon us, the Gieves & Hawkes design team has come up with a series of made-to-measure full looks suited to Royal Ascot (a stunning three-piece morning suit with a linen waistcoat), the Henley Regatta or Wimbledon (think half-lined seersucker suits).
