Porsche Design & Puma’s Inaugural Collection

One is the accessories branch of a much lauded high-performance motorsport company; the other is a giant in the world of athletic and casual footwear and apparel. Together – with the former bringing premium technical know-how to the table, the latter sportswear innovations such ultra-light materials and cushioning systems – they’ve come up with a high-end sportswear collection that can more than hold its own in an era when textile functionality is reaching ever-loftier new heights.

For a truly informal and relaxed look, consider layering the moisture-regulating men’s polo (£95) with arguably the standout piece: the EvoKnit RCT Parka (£250), which is made from a special water-repellent performance fabric and which fuses the sporty insouciance of a hoodie with the thigh-length swagger of a classic Parka. The Hybrid EvoKnit trainers (£190), meanwhile, are as purposeful looking as they are elegant.

The collection sees Puma replace German rivals Adidas as Porsche’s partner and – with sports brands eager to enter the luxury sphere and vice versa – seems to be a match made in heaven. The debut collection definitely suggests as much.
