Britain may have left the EU but its design expertise is still influencing landscapes and interiors across Europe. Outdoor visionaries Cracknell – the award-winning company responsible for East India Dock, London and Park Hyatt Lagoon, Dubai – has been tasked with delivering the landscape concept around the luxury Limassol Del Mar development in Cyprus, in particular the design of its ground floor project Le Plaza Del Mar, home to a number of high-end boutiques, international brands and five-star leisure facilities.
Located in the heart of Limassol, Limassol Del Mar includes a selection of luxury apartments and penthouses called The Signature Collection, launching later this year, as well as the impressive retail offering, Le Plaza Del Mar. that will span 4,230 square metres, with space for 21 premium shops, 10 food and beverage outlets and parking for 260 vehicles. The entire seafront development will be 27-storeys high, offering panoramic views across the Limassol coastline and beyond. The partnership will ensure residents can enjoy outside space synonymous with that of a five-star hotel.
Cracknell’s vision for Limassol Del Mar reflects the essence of the Mediterranean Sea with every detail, from planting and paving to outdoor furniture layout, using curvilinear lines, reminiscent of water lapping at the development’s edge. Curved walkways on the external footpath invite residents and their guests to visit the luxury boutique outlets on offer on the ground floor, with elevated pocket gardens surrounded by water, forming intimate private spaces so they can relax while sampling culinary delights and cocktails at a selection of high-end restaurants and bars and enjoy uninterrupted views of the sea.
Inside, Ara Design International has also used the sea as its inspiration. The company has overseen interiors of the lobby area, residents’ restaurant, spa, gym and outdoor swimming pool space. A 3D, hand-carved marble feature hangs behind the main lobby, running up the wall to the mezzanine level where the restaurant will be situated, along with natural and brushed metal finishes and area rugs in turquoise and blues that depict flowing water to represent the sea and emphasise the light and space available.
They will work alongside Italian designers Jumbo Group whose Gianfranco Ferré Home furniture pieces have been designed especially for The Signature Collection. This landmark collaboration sees residents offered a number of furniture pieces including stunning Alba, velvet sofas, Isola metal coffee tables and striking vista glass bar stools. Eco leather fabrics and branded duvets in linear patterns will adorn the bedroom suites
Known globally as ‘The Architect of Fashion’, an icon of Italian style and a master of geometric patterns, Gianfranco Ferré was known for mixing contemporary creations with delicate colours, comfort and classic, timeless designs that fit with the high-end specifications of the apartments on offer. Partner and creative director at Jumbo Group Livio Ballabio set the design brief standards high on the project, taking into account the need for the development to be internationally appealing.
Residents will also have at their disposal a 24-hour concierge service, with five-star hospitality staff who will be on hand to cater for all requests from booking trips to managing apartments and laundry services. And to top it all, residents will be able to unwind in style on the sun terrace or receive indulgent treatments at the private spa.
In recent years, Limassol has been voted one of the world’s most up-and-coming cities and has become internationally renowned for its vibrant nightlife and an array of cafes, bars and clubs. With a superyacht marina to rival the best in Europe, alongside historical remnants and the nearby Troodos Mountains, the city is also something takers will be investing in.
