What could a Swiss watch company founded in the late 19th Century, a more recent addition to that nation’s luxury horological scene and a Bolognese supercar maker all have in common? The answer is the extraordinary looking new timepieces you see before you: a collaboration between Bucherer 1888, Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini.
The Excalibur Aventador S is powered by a Duotor, a hand-wound calibre created in the Roger Dubuis factory, which packs no less than five patented innovations inspired by motorsport; the second piece, the Excalibur 42 Automatic in stainless steel, is as elegant as sporty looking timepieces come.
In tandem, a Lamborghini Aventador S Blue Edition (CHF600,600, or around £478,500) has been launched, whose 750 horsepower, V12 engine proffers acceleration of 0-to-62mph in – wait for it – 2.9 seconds. The maximum speed is a fraction under 218mph. That eye-catching matt Blu Kairos colour, meanwhile, was developed exclusively for Bucherer.
The Bucherer Blue Edition Roger Dubuis timepieces and Lamborghini are currently on display at Zurich Airport in the departure area alongside the complete Bucherer Blue Editions collection, which now features 31 timepieces created in collaboration with brands including Hublot, TAG Heuer, Panerai, Piaget, IWC and Jaeger-LeCoultre.
