The Whisky Weekender Links House, Royal Dornoch, Scottish Highlands

An award-winning luxury boutique hotel in the charming coastal town of Dornoch, just one hour north of Inverness, Links House offers five deluxe rooms, eight luxury suites and two apartments – each named after a Highland salmon river and decorated around the house’s unique tweed. A range of country pursuits – including shooting, fishing and hiking – is offered via the hotel’s in-house ‘Highlands Concierge’. The property is also located 50ft from the first tee of the Royal Dornoch Golf Club.
If a spot of spontaneity suits in the coming days, as part of the annual Dornoch Whisky Festival, Links House is hosting three events, in addition to all the other events taking place in Dornoch, during the weekend of 25 to 28 October. The weekend includes two whisky dinners in the Links House restaurant, the first being an eight-course tasting menu and the second dinner being a sensory event with a five-course tasting menu, both hosted by experts from Macallan and Clynelish. On the Sunday, Links House are teaming up with Mac and Wild and Dunnet Bay Distillers, to provide a Sunday BBQ brunch showcasing ‘Red Snappers’ – the delicious Rock Rose Gin-based bloody Marys.

Experience The Rare, Adare Manor, County Limerick, Ireland (Monday 4th November)
When Adare Manor – an award winning five-star Neo-Gothic castle hotel steeped in history – completed a 21-month transformation in November 2017, it was the largest restoration project of its kind in Ireland, introducing a new 42-bedroom wing, grand ballroom, 842 acres of parkland, woodland trails, walled gardens, outdoor pursuits, La Mer Spa and the Tom Fazio golf course (which, it has just been announced, will host the 2026 Ryder Cup).
In keeping with this event’s name, it’s an opportunity to taste the limited edition Midleton Very Rare Single Cask Irish Whiskey created by Adare Manor last year in collaboration with the County Cork distillery. Co-hosted by Brian Nation, current Master Distiller at Jameson, and Gerald Garland, an acclaimed Irish whisky ambassador, the event will mark the final opportunity to purchase the blend (attendees will take home bottles valued at €2,000, or around £1,700). The evening will conclude with a three-course set dinner and evening in The Tack Room.

The Essences of Oak Menu by The Macallan X The Setai, The Setai, Miami Beach, Florida (daily throughout Autumn)
Located ocean-side on the subdued and sophisticated side of buzzing South Beach, The Setai is a five-star haven of privacy and tranquillity – unlike its surrounds. At this a global celebration of Scotch whisky, Jaya’s Executive Chef Vijayudu Veena will pair the unique spices found in The Macallan and pair them with adapted versions of The Setai’s signature dishes: smoked duck with Macallan infused maple syrup; truffle dumping with an old fashioned whisky; and a Macallan-infused truffle.
