What with the delectable smells in the air and the stunning surrounds – the ultra-prestigious clifftop Algarve resort, Vila Vita Parc Resort & Spa – this biennial celebration of gastronomy is a veritable assault on the senses.
This year’s Vila Vita Fine Wine & Food Fair will take place over nine days from 5-13 May and will include themed dinners (from €310 per person including wines and a selection of amuse-bouches) with Vila Vita Parc’s own culinary guru Hans Neuner, who will take to the stove alongside a line-up of international talent including Thomas Allan (The Modern in New York), Christian Bau (Victor’s Fine Dining in Saarland, Germany), Jan Hartwig (Atelier in Munich) Jacob-Jan Boerma De Leest in The Netherlands).
An impressive array of top winemakers (who will offer masterclass workshops) and gourmet producers will also be in attendance. Another major highlight of the festival is the Kitchen Party, an epicurean extraveganza taking place on Saturday 11 May in the Vila Vita Clubhouse, at which guest chefs and winemakers will collaborate with a meal for over 500 guests (from €295 per adult). In all, 11 dining venues – from the ultra-casual beachside dining venues serving rustic Portuguese fare to one-of- a-kind culinary creations at the two Michelin-starred restaurant and inventive Japanese cuisine – will be on site. The bulk of the produce will be sourced from the resort’s sister farm, Herdade dos Grous.
