With our transport networks hopelessly overcrowded, and more people than ever making life choices geared towards sustainability, this offering – a collaboration between one of the nation’s foremost designers and one of its most innovative young companies – is the epitome of modern British quirkiness.
Hand-built by Prodrive, a British motorsport engineering group renowned for its ground-breaking composite technologies, Hummingbird bikes can be folded in less than five seconds and weigh just 6.9kg. That distinctive Paul Smith Artist Stripe, meanwhile, has been applied by Silverstone Paint Technology (SPT), high-performance paint technology pioneers whose work can also be found in the motorsport milieu.
“When it came to collaborating on our first limited edition bike, Paul Smith, with its similar attitude and love of cycling, was a natural choice,” says Charlie Mellor, General Manager of Hummingbird. “Together we’ve created what we believe is not only the lightest folding bike available but by far the most stylish.”
Each of the 50 bikes being produced has a unique model number. Available now from selected Paul Smith stores, and from the Hummingbird website, for £3,995.
