With the lines between formal and casualwear becoming more blurred by the season, it’s an inevitable (and most welcome) development that the major houses are now applying their artisanal know-how to making trainers: after all, the days when a Savile Row suit could only be paired with a traditional pair of Oxfords, brogues or monkstraps are a spec in the rear-view mirror.
Among Robb Report UK’s favourites for Autumn/Winter is Louis Vuitton’s Run Away Pulse trainer. And, for our money the top model for the urbane practitioner of the smart-casual zeitgeist is the one pictured here (£1210), which sees luxurious python merged with a high-impact sports trainer. First showcased at the brand’s Autumn-Winter 2018-19 Men’s Show, it has hiking boot-style laces and eyelets and an augmented rubber outsole with flakes.
The LV Circle signature on the tongue provides a neat final flourish.
