Robb Recommends: New & Lingwood’s Qatar Goodwood Festival Pocket Squares

The perfect way to make a colourful splash at the races.

With Glorious Goodwood (30 July – 3 August) almost upon us again, those wishing to add a splash of chromatic exuberance to their day-at-the-races attire might want to take a punt on one of three new silk pocket squares, designed especially for the occasion by esteemed Jermyn Street gentleman’s outfitters New & Lingwood – the official style partner of the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

Based on an Art Deco inspired print, the “Divers’ & ‘Tennis Players” squares add a witty final flourish to a formal look, whilst the “Pony Print” options do the same while offering a thematic link to the spectacle in front of you.

More sartorially cautious wearers will opt to fold the square with one neat edge peeping out from the breast pocket – think Rat Pack or James Bond style – while the more flamboyant among us may consider (despite this being the most quintessentially English of occasions) opting for “The Croissant”. This involves pinching the square at its centre, so that its corners hang downwards, then giving it a half-twist in its middle and folding it in two to form a small puff pastry-like bundle of silk.

Priced at £65, the three exclusive designs will be available for purchase from an on-site pop-up boutique and the New & Lingwood website for the duration of the festival.
